Heavenly Ghost first Dev log. How I started working on the game


Hi guys I'm Destus from Destus gamez. And this devlog 1 of my latest game in development Heavenly Ghost. It's a game about an assassin who saved a 12 yrs old girl but died in the act abd when he woke up in the afterlife he was in hell cause of all the bad things he has done but was shown mercy by God cause of he tried saving a girl but was told to destroy a being from hell to escape hell to heaven. And thus the battle of the afterlife began. That's the plot but I didn't get the whole game Idea from that rather I was watching a pixel art tutorial by pixel overload about canvas size and he drew a ghost. I was so eager to try it. I successfully did it but then I tried animating it and then it hit my head what if you made a game a ghost would be shooting bad guys. FYI I love shooting games. And thus I left photoshop to the mighty Godot engine. I didn't have much difficulty in making the platformer mechanics thanks to shadowless. Then I started pixel arting weapons and melee attacks. The melee attacks I failed to implement but the shooting was just fine. And then making some basic AIs in the game who just follow the player and when they are close to him they attack suicidally.

 Added ammo, time and what I call the annihilator which is a stream of lava that goes up and consumes all. Zoom out camera that is animated via using the tween node. A loading scene which I have never done before, by the way the tiles well there's nothing artistic about them they are just squares.

To cut the long story short. To God be the glory a prototype version was ready after 5 weeks. And released it on itch.io and it got downloads and tons of feedback like. The game is hard and stuffsbut it's just the beginning cause the game Is still in development and there's no boss so no my style of game design.
